Bavarian Brat Rice Bowl

Take a trip to southern Germany with this hearty bowl inspired by traditional Bavarian flavors. Savory bratwurst, tangy sauerkraut, sweet raisins, and warm spices come together over a bed of jasmine rice for a comforting meal that's both familiar and unique.

Ingredients

For the Bratwurst Mixture

  • 1 lb beef brats, sliced into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ¼ tsp chili flakes

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice


For the Sauerkraut

  • 2 cups sauerkraut, drained

  • ¼ cup raisins

  • ½ tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp clove powder

  • ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice


For the Bowl

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice


Instructions

  1. Cook the jasmine rice according to package directions and keep warm.

  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the onion until softened.

  3. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.

  4. Add the sliced beef brats and cook until lightly browned.

  5. Stir in the garlic powder, paprika, chili flakes, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

  6. In a separate pan, combine the sauerkraut, raisins, cinnamon, clove powder, and pumpkin pie spice. Warm gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. To assemble, place a generous scoop of jasmine rice into a bowl.

  8. Top with the bratwurst mixture.

  9. Finish with a spoonful of the warm spiced sauerkraut.
